So I’m sitting in front of my Mac and looking through all of these game apps, trying to decide which one to review. For my virgin flight into app reviews, it’s hard. It seems like there’s a new app born every minute.

I go straight for the jugular.

I stumble upon… scrap that… throttle myself into the mini world of Meteor Blitz. Think Super Stardust HD (Playstation 3). Think gorgeous graphics. Think fast. This game is so polished and best of all, the virtual dual thumbstick control layout actually works! Precise enough to keep you occupied and engaged for just one more planet run and not frustrate you into oblivion and cursing at the screen.

It’s a tried and true formula: Shoot – collect – upgrade. It’s this very mechanic that gives Meteor Blitz all the charms of a classic. With six planets to conquer, Arcade mode, Survival mode, online scores and realtime world rankings, Meteor Blitz is the complete package. Alley Labs have done the shooter genre proud and have lifted the iPhone gaming experience up another level.

This game is a must in any collection. 5 stars.
