Twin Blades [App Store]
Manga inspired style, on screen blood splatter, a not so innocent nun with deadly scythe in hand. Add a medieval town full of zombies. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect day! Twin Blades is a frantic, free-for-all side scroller. What caught my eye with this one is the flowing animation in the game which is, simply put, stunning. From the team that brought you My Brute, you can easily see how the team brings you another title with outstanding attention to detail.

Story wise, we help a nun defeat her world, now crawling with zombies across multiple environments. From the busy marketplace, to the cemetery and into the chapel we purge the demons back to the never-world with various weapons, skills and powers. Obtaining vital upgrades is a necessity after each day.
The virtual thumbstick works quite well and two weapon buttons on the right hand side allow you to unleash your choice of arsenal. With that in mind, you can use your standard scythe (my choice), to projectile weapons in the likes of a pistol or even nukes. Each have their strengths and weaknesses. The death animations alone make you want to upgrade and see what’s next. Blood splatter and decapitations galore onscreen for the not so feint of heart and gore deprived alike.
I would LOVE to see a larger variety of enemies and perhaps an end of stage boss or challenge to overcome! Fingers crossed for an update!

Overall this game is a fun blast that progresses well with difficulty. The detail in art direction of the background and the characters themselves are nothing short of a great accomplishment. Musically, this title is fairly standard with cutesy and jiggy tunes to slaughter your foes with. Add a slew of achievement points via OpenFeint into the bag of tricks and hallelujah! We have another worthy addition people!
Nun can stand up to this one. 4 Stars.
